
MOSCOW, July 28 Former Chicago probation officer Kathleen Lee shot her ex-daughter-in-law Marisa Galloway and committed suicide, leaving a «cryptic message,» the New York Post reported.
«A terminally ill retired probation officer who shot her ex-daughter-in-law on the Upper East Side and then killed herself was found with a cryptic note in her pocket after her death,» the newspaper wrote, citing a source.
According to the publication's source, the message read «For the police.» The newspaper does not provide more detailed information about the contents of the note.
As noted in the publication, the woman committed the murder on Friday morning. She shot her former daughter-in-law on the street near the car in which Galloway's little daughter was sitting. According to the publication, the child was not harmed.
It is emphasized that the attacker subsequently committed suicide on the same day.
Law enforcement agencies stated that the cause of the tragedy was the struggle between 65-year-old Lee and 45-year-old Galloway for custody of the children.
