MOSCOW, July 29 Sixteen people, including one child, were hospitalized after a passenger train derailed near Volgograd, Russian Railways reported.
«A total of 16 people were hospitalized, including 13 adult passengers, one child and two conductors,» the company said.
There were 803 passengers on the train, about 140 people received abrasions and bruises.
The accident occurred at 12:35 on the Gremyachaya — Kotelnikovo section. According to the company, the cause of the emergency was a truck that drove onto the crossing against a red light. The driver of the Kazan-Adler train applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be avoided.
Russian Railways emphasized that the railway in this place is clearly visible and the driver's visibility was more than a kilometer.
