PARIS, July 28 An anonymous group of opponents of the Olympics has claimed responsibility for sabotage on railway tracks in France, Voix du Nord reports.
According to its information, a letter was sent to a number of French media outlets from the address «OG TGV sabotage».
In it, the anonymous group openly opposes the organization of the Olympic Games.
«They call this a party? We see it as a celebration of nationalism, a gigantic production about the enslavement of populations by states,» the publication quotes from the letter.
On Friday, the opening day of the Paris Olympics, the French National Railways Company (SNCF) reported that several arson attacks had been committed on railway tracks during the night. According to the BFMTV television channel, the attackers targeted relay cabinets near the tracks, as well as cables. This led to serious disruptions on three TGV high-speed train lines, and sabotage was prevented on another line. Many trains were delayed and cancelled, affecting about 800,000 passengers. The French authorities called the incident sabotage. The Paris prosecutor's office has launched an investigation. SNCF said that train service will be fully restored from Monday.
