SAMARA, July 28 The police have established the preliminary circumstances of an accident involving eight cars in the Ulyanovsk region, in which 10 people were injured and a woman died.
As previously reported by the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a massive accident occurred at about 10:15 Moscow time in the Tsilninsky district on the 164th kilometer of the federal highway A-151 «Tsivilsk-Ulyanovsk».
«It has been preliminarily established that the driver… of a Man truck with a semi-trailer (a resident of the Republic of Tatarstan) lost control and hit a Lexus driven by a man (a resident of the Saratov Region) that was stopped at a red light on a section of the road under repair,» the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told journalists.
The impact caused the foreign car to hit a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 parked in front of it and then, in a chain, hit a Toyota Land Cruiser 200, Lada Vesta, Datsun, Nissan Almera and a Scania truck.
As a result of the accident, 11 people were taken to the hospital, including three children aged 2 to 5. The passenger in the Lexus, born in 1959, died in a medical facility from her injuries.
A criminal case is being investigated regarding the accident, initiated under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles».
