YEKATERINBURG, July 29Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexey Teksler said in a video message on his Telegram channel that he had arrived in the flooded city of Yemanzhelinsk and met with local residents.
“Today I am making a morning tour of the flooded areas. I am currently in Yemanzhelinsk, in the village of Pionersky. There is still an overflow here and the water is moving towards the village of Rabochy. The situation remains quite difficult, but the water level is decreasing. I have now talked to people. The main issue is payments,” Teksler said.
According to him, the first financial aid to flood victims will begin to arrive on Monday. Next, the authorities will assess the damage caused to the property of local residents.
On Friday, a dam burst on the Kialimskoye Reservoir in the Chelyabinsk Region. As noted by the head of the Karabash Urban District, Stanislav Afanasenko, the emergency could have occurred due to prolonged precipitation. One village, Kiolim, was flooded, the water level remained at a height of one meter. Three more villages were under threat of flooding — Mukhametovo, Baydashevo, Karasevo, they were preventively evacuated. On Saturday, the water returned to the riverbed, Kiolim was completely free of water.
The emergency regime is in effect in the Karabash, Sosnovsky, Yetkulsky, Verkhneuralsky, Korkinsky and Chebarkulsky districts. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the cities of Korkino, Chelyabinsk, Satka and Yemanzhelinsk are in the flood zone.
