CARACAS, July 29 The Venezuelan opposition considers Nicolas Maduro's main opponent in the elections, Edmundo González, to be the elected president, opposition leader María Corina Machado said.
«We want to tell all Venezuelans and the world that Venezuela has a new president and it is Edmundo González… The whole world knows this. We won in all the states of the country,» she said.
According to Machado, González won 70% of the votes.
She added that the opposition will defend its position peacefully, through a large social movement that the authorities will not be able to stop.
After processing 80% of the protocols, Maduro has gained 51.2% of the vote and won the presidential election, the chairman of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela, Elvis Amoroso, announced earlier.
