MOSCOW, July 29 Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov won a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris.
In the final bout in the 73 kg weight category, the 27-year-old judoka defeated Frenchman Joan-Benjamin Gaba with a score of 10:0.
The bronze medalist in the 73 kg category was Moldovan Adil Osmanov, who defeated Italian Manuel Lombardo (10:0) in the fight for third place. Another bronze medalist in this weight category was Japanese Soichi Hashimoto.
The Russian judo team refused to participate in the Olympics because the strongest Russian athletes were not allowed to participate in the Games.
