
MURMANSK, July 29 Five new landing sites for drones are planned to be opened in the Murmansk Region by 2029, and a drone festival will be held in the region in September of this year, Governor Andrei Chibis said.
«By 2029, five new landing sites for drones are planned to be opened in the Murmansk region,» Chibis wrote on his Telegram channel. 
He said that the government meeting had considered the issue of developing unmanned aircraft systems in the Murmansk region. This task was set for the regions as part of the presidential national project «Unmanned aircraft systems». It should be implemented in the next five years.
Pilot training is already taking place at the Murmansk College of Economics and Information Technology and the Construction College, the Quantorium Technopark, the Severomorsk Cadet Corps, the VOIN and Na Severe — Zhit! centers, and the Northern Fleet Regiment.
The center for training drone and attack drone operators was opened at one of the Northern Fleet units in November 2023, and equipped with advanced equipment: quadcopters, 3D printers, and all the necessary equipment.
«So that our defenders learn to operate drones on modern equipment in comfortable classrooms and perform special military operation tasks even more effectively,» Chibis explained. 
The head of the region added that there are also plans to open a technology park for the development of new technologies in the field of unmanned aviation based on the Murmansk Arctic University, and to introduce at least two educational programs in the secondary vocational education link.
«And already this September, Murmansk will host the All-Russian drone festival «Reach the Sky». The event will take place on September 13-14 at the site of the Center for Advanced Professional Training,» the governor added.
