CHISINAU, July 29 Moldovan opposition politician Ilan Shor announced on Monday in his Telegram channel that he had achieved the lifting of the ban on the supply of fruit and vegetable products from the Gagauz autonomy Moldova to Russia.
Rosselkhoznadzor previously reported that it was forced to return to the restrictions introduced in 2022 on the import of quarantine products from Moldova to Russia from December 4. In response, the National Food Safety Agency of Moldova stated that Russia's decision to impose an embargo was unfounded and was detrimental to Moldovan producers.
«As promised, we have achieved the lifting of the ban on the import of fruit and vegetable products from the autonomy to Russia. The decision was made by the Russian Rospotrebnadzor. While the current Moldovan regime is destroying its own farmers, closing their access to traditional markets, we, together with the Pobeda bloc, are solving problems for the benefit of our citizens, bringing specific issues to a mutually beneficial solution,» Shor wrote.
He stressed that this became possible due to careful consideration of the issue with the partners of the Pobeda bloc from Russia.
Temporary restrictions on the import of plant products to Russia from a number of regions of Moldova were introduced by Rosselkhoznadzor on August 15, 2022, due to the unfavorable phytosanitary situation in the republic. In December of the same year, after an analysis of products from Moldovan enterprises, the restrictions were gradually lifted, and by December 8, supplies were open to 53 Moldovan enterprises. According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in December last year the agency was forced to return to the restrictions introduced in 2022 due to the systematic detection of quarantine objects in fruits and vegetables that could cause multi-billion dollar damage to Russia's agricultural production.
