Demonstrators tore down and burned a statue of former President Hugo Chavez in the central square. Nicolas Maduro, who won the presidential election in Venezuela, is a follower of Chavez.
In addition, protesters erected barricades on the streets, burned garbage containers and tires.
Clashes with police were also recorded. Law enforcement officers used gas and rubber bullets. The state authorities decided to strengthen the security of the government building to prevent protesters from invading the building. A large number of soldiers and police were seen on the streets.
On July 28, presidential elections were held in Venezuela, and the current head of state, Nicolas Maduro, won. The next day, protests began in Caracas, with clashes between police and protesters.
The Venezuelan government has declared that a number of countries interfered in the elections and in the people's right to self-determination.
