KAZAN, July 31 Two men were injured by a lightning strike in the Laishevsky district of Tatarstan, one of them is in serious condition, the Republican Clinical Hospital, where the victims were hospitalized, reported.
«Two men were injured as a result of a lightning strike in the village of Stolbishche in the Laishevsky district of Tatarstan. They were walking in the rain at the time of the lightning strike,» the agency's source said.
It is specified that the victims were taken by ambulance to the Republican Clinical Hospital of Tatarstan.
According to the clinic representative, the 39-year-old man received first- and second-degree burns on 30% of his body surface and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. His condition is assessed as serious. The second victim, a 52-year-old man, complaining of pain and numbness in his legs, was hospitalized in the acute surgical treatment department for complex cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac pacing for observation. The man's condition is assessed as satisfactory.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Tatarstan on Wednesday. The day before, a storm warning was announced in the republic: from 10 p.m. on July 30 to 9 p.m. on July 31 in Tatarstan, thunderstorms, squally winds of 15-20 meters per second, locally up to 24 meters per second, heavy rains and showers, locally hail are predicted when active atmospheric fronts pass.
