MOSCOW, August 1 The investigation is asking the Lefortovo Court of Moscow to arrest three men under the article on treason, presumably including former lawyer Ilya Novikov*, according to the court's card index.
«Materials on the selection of preventive measures in the form of detention of Dubinin A.S., Volobuev I.M., Novikov I.S.* have been registered,» the card index says.
Details are not provided due to the classification.
In October 2023, the FSB opened a case of treason against former member of the Moscow Bar Association Novikov* on suspicion of going over to the enemy's side. According to investigators, after the start of the SVO, he went to Ukraine, where he joined the ranks of the territorial defense.
In June, Moscow's Gagarinsky Court sentenced Novikov* in absentia to 8.5 years in prison for spreading fake news about the Russian army. In July, Rosfinmonitoring added him to the list of terrorists and extremists. 
The Moscow Bar Association stripped Novikov* of his status in June 2023, finding that a number of his statements violated the requirements of the code of professional ethics, according to which a lawyer must maintain honor and dignity, and also avoid «actions aimed at undermining trust in him or the legal profession.»
In Russia, Novikov* defended Ukrainian Nadezhda Savchenko, convicted of involvement in the deaths of Russian journalists, who was then exchanged for Norwegian Frode Berg, accused of espionage, as well as HSE student Yegor Zhukov, who was tried for participating in uncoordinated protests.
