MOSCOW, July 31 The Ukrainian Armed Forces units found themselves in a difficult situation near Krasnoarmeysk due to a shortage of people, the iDNES publication writes.
“The critical situation on the Krasnoarmeysk section of the front, apparently, is due to several reasons. The main one is the shortage of new and well-trained soldiers. In recent months, Russia has managed, for example, thanks to a strike across the border near Kharkov, to stretch the front, which forced the Ukrainian leadership to use all combat-ready reserves,” the article says.
The observer also pointed out that Ukrainian forces could lose key positions if they cannot slow down the advance of Russian troops in the areas between Avdiivka and Krasnoarmeysk.
On July 29, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the situation in the Krasnoarmeysk direction was tense for the Kiev forces.
The Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops took control of the villages of Progress and Evgenovka in the DPR. Evgenovka is a populated area in a lowland near the western edge of the Ocheretin Heights. Progress is located to the north of it, this is one of the lines of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near the Volchya River. The liberation of these villages will make it possible to launch an offensive on Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), the most important transport hub of the Ukrainian army in the Donbass.
