
MOSCOW, August 1 Russia has been recognized as the victim in the Voentorg case of theft in the execution of government contracts for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, reports a correspondent from hall of the Meshchansky Court of Moscow.
““On July 31, the Russian Federation was recognized as the victim in the case,” judge Elena Karakeshisheva read out the case materials.
The court is considering the investigation's request to arrest the head of Voentorg, Vladimir Pavlov.
According to the investigation, the head and employees of Voentorg JSC, together with other accomplices, from 2019 to 2022 sold to the Ministry of Defense under government contracts “Army toiletries” (hygienic kits, including a toothbrush, a razor, sewing accessories, shampoo, gel, etc.) by 625 million rubles, inflating the price of goods by more than 400 million, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The head of Voentorg and a 41-year-old native of North Ossetia, the beneficiary of a number of controlled organizations participating in the criminal scheme, were detained. They have been charged with fraud on an especially large scale.
