WASHINGTON, July 31 US President Joe Biden is not hiding from the public and continues to lead the country, said White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.
«He has not stopped leading the country, that would be a mistaken impression,» Jean-Pierre said at a briefing.
She was responding to a question about whether Biden's schedule had changed, which now includes many closed events, allowing the president to avoid appearing in public for several days.
«There is a shift, we are recalibrating after he dropped out of the re-election race. We are figuring out what the next six months are going to be like… Give us a minute and he will show up, he wants to continue to engage with the American people, you will see him,» she said.
President Joe Biden earlier decided not to seek re-election for a second term amid concerns about his health and mounting criticism, and nominated Harris as his replacement. She has yet to formally win the Democratic nomination, although she has plenty of support within the party, according to press reports.
