MOSCOW, August 1 The split in American society is very serious, voters will not trust any winner of the presidential election, says Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko
“
“Whoever is elected, it seems to me that this will deepen the split in American society, which is already very serious. And voters will definitely not trust the results no matter what,” Matviyenko said at a press conference.
Earlier, amid concerns about his health and growing criticism, US President Joe Biden decided not to seek re-election for a second term and nominated US Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement. She has yet to officially win the Democratic Party nomination, although she has reportedly gained sufficient support within the party.
The US presidential election will take place on November 5. Trump has been officially nominated by the Republican Party for the post of head of state. Along with him, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio has been approved as a vice presidential candidate.
