
TOKYO, Aug. 1 Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors is joining the Nissan Motor and Honda Motor alliance in the field of electric vehicles and the implementation of smart technologies, a corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday, according to a press release on Honda Motor website.
«Nissan and Honda are working to further expand their initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality and a zero-accident society. Various discussions are underway to explore possible collaborations in areas such as electrification technologies, software development… Mitsubishi Motors' participation will not only bring new knowledge and strengths, but will also stimulate synergies and new business opportunities,» the document notes.
Last fall, Nissan Motor announced that, amid the growing popularity of electric cars worldwide, all new models for the European market will be fully electrified, and by 2030, the company plans to completely abandon sales of cars with internal combustion engines in Europe. The automaker also said that it is developing plans in the field of software and electric vehicles outside its alliance with Renault.
In March this year, Nissan Motor announced the signing of a memorandum of mutual cooperation in the field of electric vehicle production with Honda Motor.
