MOSCOW, August 2 In Russia, legislative innovations regulating the inheritance of the digital ruble came into force in early August, Petr, a lawyer at the Monastyrsky, Zyuba, Stepanov and Partners law firm, told the Prime agency. Savishchev.
These rules basically came into force on August 1, 2023, but some of them only came into effect this year. Now the digital ruble is recognized as property in the estate, and rights to it can be bequeathed.
“
“Clause 4 of Article 1128 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation has been supplemented with provisions that provide for the possibility of bequeathing rights to digital rubles, including through testamentary dispositions,” the lawyer explained.
The procedure for their drafting will be additionally established by the government in agreement with the Bank of Russia. In addition, digital rubles in the estate are now subject to inclusion in the calculation of the mandatory share in accordance with Article 1149 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. This will prevent abuses by other heirs, Savishchev believes.
