The Prosecutor General's Office saw a threat to Russians in the law on migration control

Representatives of the prosecutor's office saw risks for Russian citizens in law on strengthening migration control.

On August 1, the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation approved and recommended supporting the laws aimed at tightening migration control at a plenary session on August 2, RBK reports.

Artur Zavalunov, head of the legal department of the Prosecutor General's Office, noted at a meeting of the Federation Council that the adopted document will give law enforcement agencies the right to enter housing without the consent of those who live there. The police will have sufficient grounds to believe that a «controlled person» is in the home.

Artur Zavalunov spoke out against the three days during which police officers must notify the prosecutor's office of their actions in relation to «controlled persons.» Although the notification period is currently 24 hours. «We want to fight illegal migration, but we are questioning the rights of ordinary citizens,» said the head of the legal department of the Prosecutor General's Office. He expressed a desire to revise the document after approval by the Federation Council.

One of the authors of the bill, Dmitry Vyalkin, stated that the prosecutor's arguments «will be accepted.»
