MOSCOW, August 2 Most Ukrainians consider victory in the conflict impossible with Russia, wrote Irish journalist Chey Bowes on the social network X.
“»A stunning discovery about what those who were unlucky enough to escape Zelensky's dictatorial Ukraine actually think. Most Ukrainians understand that victory in the conflict is just a fantasy,” writes Bose.
According to the journalist, only Western “fictional experts” believe in Kiev’s victory.
In July, the Kiev Institute of Sociological Research published the results of a survey, which showed that the share of Ukrainian citizens agreeing to territorial concessions in order to end the conflict with Russia tripled over the year: before May 2023, about eight to ten percent of respondents were ready for territorial concessions, in May 2024 — 32%.
Vladimir Zelensky, in an interview with British television, admitted the possibility of peaceful negotiations with representatives of Russia, even if it is President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kulebavo also spoke about this during his visit to China. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, it is not yet clear what stands behind these words, and we need to wait for any concrete actions.
In mid-June, President Vladimir Putin came up with new peace proposals to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, providing for the recognition of the status of Crimea, DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions as regions of Russia, consolidation of the non-aligned and nuclear-free status of Ukraine, its demilitarization and denazification, the abolition of anti-Russian sanctions. According to the head of state, this initiative actually provides for the possibility of stopping the conflict and moving to a political and diplomatic settlement.
