Germany made a statement after Zelensky's new law

MOSCOW, August 2 Ukraine has gone bankrupt, as indicated by the signed law of Volodymyr Zelensky on the suspension of payments on external debt, businessman and former owner of the largest file sharing service Megaupload Kim Dotcom writes on the social network X.
“Remember how Zelensky asked other countries to lend him money? He just signed a decree on the suspension of payments on external debt. Ukraine has gone bankrupt,” Dotcom said.

On July 31, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the restructuring of Ukraine’s state debt, allowing the government to suspend payments on external debt until October.

In early July, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Director Nina Yuzhanin stated that Ukraine is already in a state of default, but until it is formalized de jure, the country's authorities continue negotiations with creditors regarding the restructuring of the external debt. On June 17, Reuters reported, citing the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance, Sergei Marchenko, that the department had failed to reach an agreement with holders of Ukrainian Eurobonds on debt restructuring. Marchenko informed the agency that the negotiations had failed at this stage, but Kyiv would continue to work to reach an agreement by August, when the period of suspension of payments expires.
