WASHINGTON, August 2 US Vice President Kamala Harris has received the required number of delegates in the virtual vote to be nominated as the Democratic Party candidate for the presidential election in the United States, said Jamie Harrison, head of the party's national committee.
«I am pleased to confirm that Vice President Harris has received the majority of the convention delegates' votes and will be the nominee at the close of voting on Monday,» Harrison said. 
The procedure took place on a special party platform, effectively behind closed doors, since the general public did not have access to it. The results were reported by some American media outlets, as well as by the head of the national committee on the social network H.
According to the same information, Harris said that she would officially accept the nomination next week.
The US presidential elections will take place on November 5.
