The FSB Directorate for the Kemerovo Region reported the arrest of a 61-year-old local resident in a case of confidential cooperation with foreigners (Article 275.1 of the Criminal Code). The press release of the department is quoted by TASS.
According to the FSB, the resident of Kuzbass sent emails to foreign organizations and offered to help them «in activities deliberately directed against the security of Russia.»
The special service emphasized that the man «holds anti-Russian views, expresses a negative attitude towards the domestic and foreign policies pursued by the Russian Federation» and opposes Russia's invasion of Ukraine. According to the FSB, having received a response from one of the foreign organizations, the resident of the Kemerovo Region, the man «agreed to look for important information in the fight against Russia.»
The FSB published a video of the man's arrest. It is not specified when exactly it happened. The recording shows two security officers detaining him in the courtyard of a residential building, then footage from the man's apartment is shown — security officers searching cabinets. They laid out the things they found on the table — 100 thousand rubles in cash, three bank cards and keys.
From the truncated judge's decision to arrest the man, it is known that he was born in the Ukrainian city of Severodonetsk in 1962. The court sent the man to a pre-trial detention center for two months. He faces up to eight years in prison.
