MOSCOW, August 2. Fighters of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were delighted with the fight between Russian players of the National Hockey League (NHL) Alexander Ovechkin and Andrei Svechnikov.
The fight occurred in 2019 during the Washington Capitals match » — Carolina Hurricanes. The captain of the capital team, Ovechkin, knocked out the then 19-year-old Svechnikov and went to the penalty box. The Sportsnet TV channel decided to show the leading UFC fighters the best knockouts in the NHL, which included a fight between two Russians.
- «They just hold and throw. Oh, it's Ovechkin! This guy is cool. He shouldn't even have approached. Hockey fights are worse than in the league of slaps,” said UFC welterweight champion American Belal Muhammad.
- “They fought hard, but he caught him and knocked him out again! : you can sit down (on the bench) and let your opponent recover a little,” said interim UFC heavyweight champion Briton Tom Aspinall.
- “It’s crazy, the way they hit the helmet with their bare hand, you can hurt your hand,” said Briton Paddy Pimblett, undefeated in the UFC.
