Ukraine has received the bodies of 250 dead soldiers, the country's coordination headquarters for work with prisoners of war reported. Russia has returned the bodies of 38 people, State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliev told RBK.
The last time the countries exchanged bodies was on June 14. Then, the bodies of 254 dead soldiers were returned to Ukraine, and 32 bodies were returned to Russia. Before that, the countries exchanged on May 31 — Ukraine received 212 bodies, Russia — 45.
Since June 2022, body exchanges have been held with the support of the Red Cross mission. Most often, this happens on the Russian side — on the border with the Sumy region of Ukraine. To allow trucks with bodies to pass, the border strip is temporarily cleared of mines.
At the end of June, Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war according to the «90 for 90» formula. Before that, at the end of May, 75 military personnel were returned to each of the countries.
