MOSCOW, August 4The defense of Yuri Nefedov, a defendant in the case of Senator Dmitry Savelyev on the preparation of the murder of a businessman, stated in an appeal to the court that Nefedov needs daily medical care, special dietary nutrition and daily intake of rare medications, according to the materials available to .
Earlier it also became known that Nefedov was arrested by the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow on March 21, 2024 — 5 months before Savelyev himself was taken into custody. 
«He (Nefedov — ed.) suffers from multiple serious illnesses, and therefore he needs daily medical care and medical supervision, a special diet, and daily intake of rare medications,» the materials say.
Nefedov's defense considers the court's decision to extend his term of detention to be illegal and unfounded, since the court did not provide any information that the defendant in Savelyev's case, while at large, could continue to engage in criminal activity or otherwise obstruct the proceedings.
According to the Investigative Committee, in August 2023, Savelyev ordered his acquaintance to kill an entrepreneur he disliked. Law enforcement agencies found out about this, and a staged murder was organized in order to expose the criminals. After receiving information about the alleged murder, Savelyev gave his accomplice a reward.
The case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 33, Part 1 of Article 30, paragraph «z» of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of preparation for murder), Savelyev faces up to ten years in prison.
