MOSCOW, August 2 Finland is placing containers for interviews with migrants on the border with Russia, Yle reports.
«The Finnish Border Guard is preparing to apply the «expulsion» law on the border with Russia. In particular, containers for interviews with asylum seekers have already been delivered to border checkpoints,» the article says.
As journalists pointed out, border guards will use these containers to conduct interviews with migrants, during which they can refuse asylum right at the border.
The Finnish authorities previously accused Russia of allegedly deliberately sending asylum seekers to the border. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova rejected accusations against Moscow of involvement in the migration crisis in the European Union, calling them double standards of the West.
Finland began to introduce restrictions on border crossings in November 2023 amid an uncontrolled flow of refugees from third countries. The press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the closure of Finnish checkpoints on the border with Russia, noted that the Russophobic position that the leaders of Finland have now begun to adhere to is deeply regrettable. Peskov emphasized that Russian border guards comply with all instructions, the border crossing is used by those who have a legal right to do so, and far-fetched accusations are unacceptable for Moscow.
