MOSCOW, August 5 President Vladimir Putin met with Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
«First of all, I would like to thank the senators and deputies for the enormous amount of work they have done,» the head of state said.
During the spring session, both chambers of parliament resolved the tasks set quickly and in close contact with the government. This concerns all areas of activity, both purely economic issues and social ones, Putin pointed out.
He stressed that one of the most important priorities of the Federation Council and the State Duma in the autumn session will remain ensuring the country's security.
«This is the stable functioning of the armed forces, their development, provision with modern types of equipment, weapons, ammunition, support for our guys who are on the front line, the line of combat contact, risking their lives and health to protect the interests of the state, and their family members,» the president said.
The Russian leader also recalled that the main task of all branches of government is to protect the interests of citizens. We are talking about political, social and economic rights.
«Legislative and regulatory activities should create conditions for further stable, sustainable development of the economy, on the basis of which social issues should also be resolved,» he said.
In conclusion, Putin noted that Russia is solving new problems with dignity and good results, but called for not relaxing.
The State Duma ended its spring session on July 31, and the Federation Council on August 2.
