
MOSCOW, August 5 Almost half of the laws adopted by the Federation Council during the spring session concerned the social sphere, more than one hundred and fifty laws, said Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin met with Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin on Monday following the results of the parliament's spring session.
«The session was very eventful, long, it can be called spring-summer, (331 laws were adopted — ed.). Under your leadership, we worked harmoniously, as one team, the Government, the Federation Council, the State Duma,» Matviyenko said.
According to her, more than 150 laws, or slightly less than half of all those adopted, concerned the social sphere, in particular, support for families with children.
«There were real support measures that improved the financial situation of families with children — this affected 4 million families, where 10 million children are being raised,» Matviyenko clarified, noting the president's constant attention to this area.
The second block of issues discussed at the meeting concerned the topic of defense and security, support for participants in the special operation. Matviyenko reported that since the beginning of the SVO, parliamentarians have adopted 238 laws. According to the speaker, the topic of social support for participants in the special operation should be continued.
Matviyenko added that the autumn session will also be no less eventful.
«Everyone is charged with active work, as you said, everyone should have their own front. And with the same persistence and dedication that our soldiers fight, we plan to continue our work,» she said.
The speaker also said that 38 senators are participating in the regional elections in September.
