MOSCOW, August 6 The brother of Evgeny Serebryakov, accused of blowing up a car in Moscow, Alexey, said that his brother was unlikely to have committed the crime for money, as he had no financial problems.
«I am deeply convinced that he had no problems with money, he worked in a bank and earned well. And when there were problems, he helped his parents — he transferred money for medicine, for an operation, he looked for rare drugs himself. He bought gifts, helped all his relatives. So I do not believe that he committed a crime for the sake of money,» his brother said.
According to the man, his brother had no bad habits — he did not smoke, never used drugs, and in the last few years he had completely given up alcohol.
On the morning of July 24, two people were injured in a car explosion in the courtyard of a building on Sinyavinskaya Street in northern Moscow. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, an unidentified object placed in the car detonated. In the evening, the capital's court arrested Serebryakov in absentia on charges of attempted murder and trafficking in explosives. At that time, he had already been detained in Bodrum, Turkey, while on the international wanted list.
On the night of July 26, Serebryakov was brought from Turkey to Moscow. In an FSB video, he admitted that he had planted the bomb under the car and assembled it under the supervision of his SBU handler. According to Serebryakov, he was promised between 10,000 and 20,000 dollars and a Ukrainian passport for the murder of the Russian officer. He also said that in February 2023 he had voluntarily begun cooperating with the Ukrainian special services.
