MOSCOW, August 6 A whale was caught on camera during the shortboard surfing competition in Tahiti as part of the Summer Olympics in Paris.
The animal appeared in the cameras' field of view during the semi-final between Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb and Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy. The whale did not approach the athletes, but emerged from the water at a safe distance.
American Caroline Marks became the Olympic champion in shortboarding. In the men's competition, the gold medal was won by Kauli Vaast from France.
