Drones flew for more than 150 hours at Archipelago 2024 in Sakhalin Oblast

From July 8 to 17, 350 drone flights were performed at the Pushisty airfield as part of the Archipelago 2024 project and educational intensive course, and the total number of flight hours of the devices exceeded 150 hours — more than 6 days of non-stop flights. The «Archipelago 2024» intensive course is one of the events of the national project «Unmanned Aircraft Systems». This was reported by the press service of the National Technology Initiative.

How UAVs Search for Missing People and Protect Regions

The scenarios were developed for 15 of the most common applications of unmanned aerial vehicles. The drone application scenarios were divided into eight main types: cargo delivery, complex cadastral work, monitoring of linear objects, construction sites, water bodies, etc.

For example, the NTI Project Support Fund and the volunteer search and rescue team «LizaAlert» have completed the development of a scenario for using drones and neural networks to search for people missing in the area. Based on the results of the exercises, preliminary agreements were reached on the transfer of the neural network to 10 regional organizations, with which it is planned to conclude licensing agreements.

Interaction of technologies in air and space

As part of the «Archipelago 2024», a stress test of the concept of a seamless digital sky was carried out — the construction of a system of interaction of technologies, services and devices at all levels of air and space.

The digital sky concept will help safely integrate unmanned aircraft into a single airspace and should complement the national project «Unmanned Aircraft Systems». One of the key results of the concept stress test at «Archipelago 2024» was the decision to launch a new experimental legal regime (ELR) to test unique Russian hybrid communications technologies based on the ERA-GLONASS state information system for civil unmanned aircraft. The first region to participate in the EPR will be Sakhalin Oblast.

Drones as assistants in monitoring the environmental situation

In the «Marine Drones» direction, 16 organizations from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sakhalin Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, Sevastopol and others took part in the project-educational intensive «Archipelago 2024». In total, more than 10 marine robotic solutions were demonstrated in testing scenarios for using marine drones. The devices were used to practice scenarios for using marine drones: identifying sunken objects on the seabed using hydroacoustic detection equipment, monitoring underwater operations, monitoring the environmental situation, performing search and rescue operations, and hydrographic surveying of a section of the water area using an unmanned vessel in automatic mode with the release of an electronic navigation chart.

A total of 3.5 thousand people took part in the project and educational intensive course «Archipelago 2024».

Development of the UAS industry by business

The national project «Small and Medium Entrepreneurship» helps businesses develop the development and production of unmanned aircraft systems. With its help, drone manufacturers can take advantage of support measures for entrepreneurs — both financial and non-financial. For example, get advice, undergo training or get a loan to develop their production. To apply and become a participant in the national project, you must contact one of the «My Business» centers — they are located in 88 regions. Or register on the MSP.RF platform.

For example, FlySee Agro produces drones for use in agriculture. With the help of these devices, farmers can protect crops from pests using entomophages — insects that protect plants from pests and diseases. The company's specialists design and manufacture parts for a suspended dispenser and a shock-absorbing mount for a hexacopter, and also reengineer some consumables. A suspended system for delivering and distributing entomophages over crops was developed. The device successfully passed a reliability test. After that, a batch of working samples of the device was released. The company contacted the Prototyping Center — where they help entrepreneurs under the national project «Small and Medium Entrepreneurship» — with the task of 3D printing prototypes of a dispenser for introducing various entomophages. Thus, they managed to design a dispenser — a unique invention that has no analogues yet. And achieve a reduction in equipment maintenance costs.

In Chuvashia, the Bas-Cheb company has begun test assembly of FPV drones. Such devices are equipped with a video camera and transmit images to the operator on virtual reality glasses. The project received a loan from the Venture Investment Fund, working in cooperation with the My Business center. The funds from the preferential loan made it possible to conduct scientific experiments and purchase the necessary components for the devices in order to enter the market.
Currently, the company is conducting research and development work on the design of an electric motor using composite materials, and fiberglass supporting frames have been manufactured.
