An alarming incident occurred in Feodosia over the weekend: a crowd of men attacked Russian and European champion Dmitry Dvali, who stood up for a teenager on the street. Sport reports what is known at the moment.
Defending a childThe brawl occurred early in the morning on July 28. Dvali's personal trainer Ivan Shchelok said that at about 6:35 a.m. the boxer and one of his team members were returning to the hotel from the beach and saw a group of men beating up a teenager on the embankment.

"They stood up for him, Evgeny pulled one of them aside, and everyone else pounced on Dima. Moreover, they were all strong and sturdy, athletic men, about 25-26 years old. And Dima weighed only 54 kilograms,” Shchyolok said.
The attackers inflicted serious injuries on Dvali and cutman Evgeny. The boxer's orbital bone was broken and his eye was severely damaged, while Evgeny's arm was broken. Dvali is currently recovering in a Moscow hospital.
The attackers have been arrestedThe athlete feared that the attackers could have influenced the law enforcement agencies of Feodosia, so he asked the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, to take the case under his personal control.
Dvali's statement did not go unnoticed. On August 5, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee reported that nine participants in the mass brawl had been identified and detained. They are currently in a pretrial detention center, and a criminal case has been opened.
The Investigative Committee noted that the accused are Russian citizens. Three of the attackers worked as security guards at a local club, while the rest are listed as general laborers. Searches have been organized at the accused's places of residence.
It is also reported that all the defendants in the case have been charged with attempted murder of Dvali.
«On the instructions of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the criminal case of hooliganism, accepted for proceedings by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, has been reclassified as a more serious crime, and nine residents of the Feodosia urban district have been charged with attempted murder of a person related to the performance of his public duty, committed by a group of people out of hooligan motives,» the Investigative Committee of Russia said in a statement.
«All of Russia supports him»The beating of Dvali has caused a great stir in the boxing community. The head coach of the Russian men's boxing team, Viktor Farkhutdinov, said that calls with words of support for Dvali are coming from everywhere.

This incident, unfortunately, could affect the boxer's career. Dvali is expected to undergo eye surgery, but this does not guarantee full preservation of vision. The 23-year-old athlete is a European champion, and last year he won bronze at the world championship in Tashkent.
