MOSCOW, August 10The US military destroyed a missile launcher, an unmanned surface vessel of the Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement, which rules northern Yemen, in areas of Yemen and two of their unmanned aerial vehicles over the Red Sea, the US Central Command reported on the social network X.
«Over the past 24 hours, US Central Command forces successfully destroyed one Iranian-backed Houthi missile launcher and one unmanned surface vessel in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. In addition, Central Command forces successfully destroyed two Houthi unmanned aerial vehicles over the Red Sea,» the command said in a statement.
It is noted that the US military considered these weapons a «clear and imminent threat» to US and coalition forces, as well as merchant ships in the region. The command also claims that the «reckless and dangerous behavior» of the Houthis threatens regional stability and security.
The ruling Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement in northern Yemen, which controls most of Yemen's Red Sea coast, previously declared its support for Palestine and its intention to attack any ships associated with Israel, calling on other countries to recall their crews from them and not approach them at sea. At the same time, they said that they do not interfere with freedom of navigation in the region and do not touch the ships of other countries. Amid the attacks in the Red Sea, some companies have decided to suspend shipping through it.
