US to send nuclear submarine to Middle East amid rising tensions
Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin orders accelerate the transfer of an aircraft carrier and sent an American nuclear submarine to the Middle East amid growing tensions in the region, TASS reports, citing a statement from the US Department of Defense.
It is noted that the decision was made after a telephone conversation between Austin and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant. In the conversation, the head of the Pentagon reiterated the US readiness to take all measures to protect Israel and noted that America will continue to strengthen its military presence in the region amid growing tensions.
According to the Pentagon statement, Austin ordered the acceleration of the transfer of the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier with F-35C fighters and the sending of the Georgia submarine with cruise missiles to the region.
