Russians warned about new fraud scheme

MOSCOW, August 12 Fraudsters have begun using a new scheme using the Gosuslugi portal and the Gosklyuch electronic signature application, Evgenia Lazareva, coordinator of the Moshelovka People's Front platform, told Izvestia.

«First, the scammers gain access to the victim's personal account on Gosuslugi. Then they upload a fake notarized power of attorney to manage all of the person's accounts in a special section of Gosuslugi for signing documents in Gosklyuch,» the publication says.

She added that then a notification comes that a document needs to be signed. Then a supposed employee of the authorities calls, he convinces her to sign a power of attorney under the threat of losing money. Then a «real» employee makes a call, announcing that the victim has fallen for scammers, and advises her to quickly transfer money to a safe account.

Earlier, NGR Softlab information security analyst Andrey Shabalin told the Prime agency that telephone scammers offer to download a special bank application through which they gain access to citizens' personal data.

In turn, Alexandra Pozharskaya, an expert of the People's Front project «For the Rights of Borrowers» and the Moshelovka platform, warned that scammers invite citizens to take part in fake surveys and try to find out citizens' personal and payment data
