BANGKOK, Aug. 12 The son and former adviser of ex-Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajib Wazed, who lives in the United States, has denied reports by a number of publications that his mother allegedly claimed that the United States was responsible for the fall of her government, the India Today news portal reported on Monday.
Earlier, several publications reported that Sheikh Hasina, whose government lost power as a result of mass student protests and subsequent riots, allegedly said before leaving Bangladesh or immediately after arriving in India, where she received temporary asylum, that the United States was involved in the fall of her government because she did not allow an American military base to be opened on the island of St. Martin in the Bay of Bengal, the southernmost territory of Bangladesh.
«Sheikh Hasina did not make any such statements, this is fake. I received confirmation of this fact from her: she did not say this,» Sajib Wazed said on Monday, a video interview with whom the portal posted.
