A magnitude 4.6 earthquake has occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Kuril Islands, as reported by the head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station Elena Semenova.
«The earthquake occurred on the night of August 13, its epicenter was 92 kilometers south of the village of Malokurilskoye on Shikotan Island. The epicenter was at a depth of 41 kilometers,» she specified.
According to the seismologist, residents of Shikotan could feel tremors of up to 3 points, and on the neighboring island of Kunashir — up to 2 points. No announcement was made about a possible tsunami.
