Zakharova outraged by inclusion of Nazis in Germany's honorary list of military personnel
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called for «sounding the alarm, so that the planet wakes up.» This is how the diplomat commented on the decision of the German Defense Ministry to include former Nazis in the honorary list of Bundeswehr servicemen.
“Former Nazis have once again become “heroes” of Germany,” she wrote on her Telegram channel.
According to her, by order of the German Defense Ministry, Nazis “are returning to their houses of horror and turning other people’s houses into ashes.”
She recalled that in 2018, the German leadership thought about “traditions” in the German armed forces, issuing a directive on which traditions German soldiers should honor and which should be hushed up.
Six years later, on July 12, 2024, the head of the Readiness and Support Directorate of the German Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Kai Rohrschneider, issued a clarifying document, which included a list of German Nazis ready to become «an example of military superiority, operational readiness and the will to fight to achieve the goal when the mission requires it.»
As an example, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited some SS soldiers with experience, who were considered war criminals for 80 years.
