MOSCOW, August 13 The northern lights could be observed in the Moscow region the day before due to a strong magnetic storm, said Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center.
«With strong disturbances of the geomagnetic field, it (polar lights — ed.) can be observed in the capital region. Yesterday confirmed this,» Leus said.
The weather forecaster noted that in the city, observation can be hampered by light pollution, a large number of street lamps and lighting.
Earlier it was reported that a geomagnetic storm was in effect on Earth, and the polar lights could be observed up to the middle latitudes.
