
MOSCOW, August 12 Madrid's Atletico announced on its official website the transfer of world champion and two-time winner of the Copa America in football as part of the Argentina national team Julian Alvarez from English Manchester City.
The «mattress makers» signed a contract with the 24-year-old striker until June 30, 2030. The transfer amount, according to the Transfermarkt portal, was 75 million euros.
Alvarez moved to Manchester City in January 2022 from River Plate, but the English club kept the player at the Argentine club on loan until the summer. As part of City, the forward won two English Championship titles, the English Cup, and also became the winner of the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and European Club Championship. In total, Alvarez played 103 matches for the Mancunians, scoring 36 goals and making 18 assists. For River Plate, he played 122 matches, scored 54 goals and made 31 assists.
Alvarez has been playing for the Argentina national team since June 2021. He has won the Copa America twice and also won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In total, he played 36 matches for the Argentine team and scored nine goals.
