MOSCOW, August 14 A regional emergency regime has been declared in the Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on his Telegram channel.
«The situation in our Belgorod region continues to be extremely difficult and tense. Daily shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, destroyed houses, wounded and killed civilians. Therefore, we are making a decision starting today throughout the Belgorod region to declare a regional emergency in order to provide additional protection to the population and provide additional support to the victims, with a subsequent appeal to the government commission with a request to declare a federal emergency,» he said in a video message.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces strike civilian and infrastructure facilities in the border and central regions of Russia almost daily. President Vladimir Putin said that due to Ukrainian shelling of residential areas of Belgorod, Russia is forced to create a sanitary security zone.
In addition, military actions are taking place in the neighboring Kursk region. Ukrainian Armed Forces units invaded there early in the morning of August 6. Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to the president that the military had stopped their advance. He emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region will end with the defeat of the enemy and an exit to the state border.
According to yesterday's report from the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of military actions in this direction, Ukrainian troops have lost more than two thousand soldiers, 35 tanks and 31 armored personnel carriers.
As Vladimir Putin stated, with this attack, the Kiev regime is trying to improve its negotiating positions in the future, stop the offensive of Russian troops in Donbass and destabilize the domestic political situation in Russia itself. Nevertheless, the enemy will receive a worthy response, and all the goals facing Russia will be achieved, the president emphasized.
A counter-terrorist operation is in effect in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions.
