
MOSCOW, August 13 Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the establishment of the Maritime Collegium of the Russian Federation, headed by presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev.
The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
«To appoint presidential aide N.P. Patrushev as Chairman of the Maritime Collegium of the Russian Federation.» — the document says.
The same decree abolishes the interdepartmental commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on issues of ensuring the national interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic.
At the end of July, the assistant to the head of state Nikolai Patrushev, who oversees issues of national maritime policy, reported that in order to improve the coordination of the activities of government bodies in implementing national maritime policy and ensuring the protection of Russia's national interests in the World Ocean, the President of the Russian Federation decided to create the Maritime Collegium of the Russian Federation.
According to him, the collegium will include councils for the strategic development of the Navy, for the protection of the national interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic, and for the development and provision of maritime activities of the Russian Federation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Putin approved the regulation on the Presidential Directorate for National Maritime Policy by his decree. According to the document, the directorate will provide information and analytical support for the work of the Maritime Collegium of the Russian Federation.
