
KHABAROVSK/MOSCOW, August 14. Russian Emergency Situations Ministry rescuers flew to the Sea of Okhotsk to search for three people, including a 15-year-old teenager, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry reported on its Telegram channel.
The day before, the investigator announced the initiation of a criminal case due to violation of traffic safety rules and operation of inland water transport after two brothers with a 15-year-old teenager, the son of one of them, on August 9 on the catamaran «Baykat» sailed from Cape Perovsky, located in Nikolaevsky district, towards Sakhalin Island through the Sakhalin Bay of the Sea of Okhotsk. The location of the missing is still unknown, there is no contact with them.
«Russian Emergencies Ministry rescuers have flown out to the Sea of Okhotsk to search. Three people, including a 15-year-old teenager, are being searched for in the waters of Sakhalin Bay and the Amur Estuary. A Russian Emergencies Ministry Mi-8 aircraft with rescuers has been sent from Khabarovsk. They have the necessary gear and equipment to conduct search and rescue operations on the water,» the statement said.
It is noted that the search is being conducted both from Khabarovsk Krai and Sakhalin Island. Drones will also be used in the search, rescuers report. The Marine Rescue Sub-Center has sent a notification to all passing vessels, and an inspection of the water area and coastline is underway.
It is noted that 120 kilometers of the Amur Estuary coastline and over 700 square kilometers of the Sakhalin Bay water area have already been inspected.
