The Investigative Committee of Russia has completed its investigation into the case of Dmitry Makhnenko, accused of murdering businessman Andrei Smoldyrev in 2003. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee for Primorsky Krai.
«Investigators of the Investigative Committee for Primorsky Krai have completed the investigation into 44-year-old Dmitry Makhnenko, who had been in hiding for a long time and is accused of murdering businessman Andrei Smoldyrev in Ussuriysk (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),» the statement says.
According to the investigation, in 2003, a conflict arose between two businessmen, Arman Ayrapetyan and Andrei Smoldyrev, over a plot of land. As a result, Makhnenko agreed to carry out Ayrapetyan's order to kill Smoldyrev, receiving a pistol with a silencer from him.
With the help of his accomplice Dmitry Gagarin, Makhnenko carried out his plan on October 30, 2003. After the crime, Gagarn took him away from the scene and got rid of the murder weapon.
Mahnenko avoided justice for a long time and was found only in April of this year in Khabarovsk. He has now been finally charged.
