MOSCOW, August 14 Olympic bronze medalist Russian canoeist Alexey Korovashkov told Match TV that both he and the Ukrainian athletes tried to avoid each other at the competition in Paris.
«Eyes on the floor — both of them — and passed by so that there would be no conflicts and provocations,» he said.
Korovashkov and Zakhar Petrov competed at the Olympics in Paris as neutrals. As a pair, they took fourth place in the 500-meter canoe double race, and then Petrov became fourth in the 1000-meter canoe single race.
Korovashkov noted that they fought with dignity at the Games and showed the world that it is possible to fight for medals even in such difficult conditions in which they found themselves.
