PARIS, August 13 French authorities have detained a suspect in the murder of a female volunteer working at the Paris Olympics who was previously found dead, BFMTV reports.
The man suspected of involvement in the girl's death has been detained by the judicial police. He is being questioned.
The 48-year-old man is reported to be from Nigeria. He was found unconscious next to the body of the deceased 21-year-old girl. Traces of alcohol and a number of medications were found in his blood.
The suspect will remain in custody until at least Thursday.
The woman who worked at the Olympics took part in the closing ceremony on Sunday as a communications assistant. She also modelled for a number of brands and taught French — the suspect was one of her students. She also reportedly helped him with administrative matters for two years.
The suspect's partner, who was away at the time of the incident, contacted the police after she received a message from him saying that he had «done something really stupid» and then turned off his phone.
After breaking into their apartment, the police found the victim half-naked with traces of blood on his neck.
