MOSCOW, August 15 From August 15 to September 4, Suzdal will present the audiovisual fairytale show «Light of Suzdal. Tales of the Vladimir Land» with video mapping on the walls of the Kremlin.
«This project will be a colorful final chord in a series of festive events dedicated to the 1000th anniversary of Suzdal,» said the organizers of the shows.
The show will be based on fairy tales of the Vladimir region and will precede the large-scale exhibition of the same name at the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve.
«The main character will be the Fairy Tale itself — a half-girl, half-bird who wants to be told to the whole world and sets off on a journey, meeting characters from Russian fairy tales along the way («Finist the Bright Falcon», «Vasilisa the Beautiful», «About the Strong Russian Bogatyr Green»). She watches the adventures of the heroes, helps them cope with trials and finally ends up in an ancient city called Suzdal, where preparations are underway for three weddings at once: the Green bogatyr with his daughter Kartaus, Vasilisa the Beautiful and the Tsar, Marya and Finist. A feast for the whole world begins when the Black Serpent attacks the feasting party. The Fairy Tale enters into battle with him, saving both the city and the people,» the organizers explained.
The visuals of the show are based on references to the works of Russian artists Bilibin and Benois, famous for their illustrations of fairy tales, as well as traditional crafts — Ivanovo textile patterns, Vladimir sewing, Mstera lacquer miniatures, Faberge patterns and the collection of 18th-19th century fabrics of the Ivanovo Chintz Museum.
Research staff of the museum-reserve were involved in working on the concept of the show, and unique plots and texts of authentic Vladimir fairy tales were used.
The show will be held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. Show times will be announced later (approximately 21:00). The current schedule of shows will also be available on the site via QR codes.
