MOSCOW, August 15 The authorities of Burkina Faso have adopted a resolution on the establishment of an atomic energy agency in the country, the Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB) reports.
«Under the chairmanship (of the head of state, Captain Ibrahim Traore — ed.), the council adopted a decree on the establishment… and functioning of the Burkina Faso Atomic Energy Agency,» the publication says.
As noted, Traore said that the creation of the agency will guarantee Burkina Faso's energy independence, industrialize the country and facilitate access to electricity.
Representatives of the Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom earlier held a meeting in Ouagadougou with the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries of Burkina Faso, Yacouba Zarbe, where they discussed the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country.
