MOSCOW, August 15 Before the start of the school year, scammers use stories about sales and competitions in fake online stores of school clothes, textbooks and stationery, said the curator of the People's Front platform «Moshelovka» Alla Khrapunova.
“The most common legends before the start of the school year remain mailings about sales and competitions from fake online stores of school clothes, textbooks, stationery and other school goods. Victims receive letters and SMS with built-in links to follow — they can be phishing, they can lead to a fake store website or download malware onto the device,” Khrapunova warned. 
In addition, the expert noted that on fake websites of online stores, after payment, sellers stop communicating, and the goods are not sent.
«When using a phishing link, personal data is compromised. Malicious software allows attackers to gain remote access to the victim's device and all applications installed on it,» she said.
The expert recommends making purchases in trusted places, including online stores, as well as on marketplaces, where sellers receive money only when the buyer picks up the goods.
